I’ll take a 3-week paternity leave
The Inkdrop project is growing gradually / My YouTube channel has hit 10,000 subscribers / I’m a dad now
UPDATE: I’m back!
Hi Inkdroppers, it’s Takuya. Just a few weeks ago, Inkdrop now supports Apple Silicon and it runs blazingly fast on M1 Macs. I hope you are enjoying it. Inkdrop is doing great and I can see it is making a very stable income. It keeps gradually growing, so I can stay focus on the ‘niche’ core features instead of shiny new features. I’m planning to work on the mobile version next. There will be a lot of improvements coming this year as I wrote in the current roadmap.
My YouTube channel has hit 10,000 subscribers
Besides, even though I’m not a native English speaker, my YouTube channel is also growing pretty well. It has just hit 10k subscribers and attracts potential users for Inkdrop. I’ve been sharing my development workflow on my channel. For example, my biggest hit is my fish workflow video that got around 100k views so far:
So, it looks like my content marketing strategy on YouTube is working, fortunately. I’m enjoying improving my video editing skill. I found I like making videos that are calming and chill yet informative, such as this one:
I’ll share how I accomplished that. Before moving to the next step, I’d like to take a 3-week break to keep my projects going for the long term.
I’m a dad now
I got married two years ago. And my wife and I have had a healthy girl last month! I’m so happy to be a (solo developer) dad now. And I’d like to take paternity leave for a while. I’m not sure 3 weeks are enough for my family but I think I need to learn a lot of things and prepare to live with our daughter while working as a solo developer. Because of Covid-19, the situation for babies is unusual and we have to be careful to decide everything. As you may know, Japan is not doing well, unfortunately. I hope we will be vaccinated as soon as possible.
Sorry for letting you wait for the updates. I appreciate your understanding. Thanks! It’ll be interesting to share my experience as a dad and a solo developer :)
Thank you so much for supporting Inkdrop!
