The Future Work of Inkdrop

It’s been for two months since Inkdrop was officially launched. I’m so happy that some users told me they really enjoy it. Now, I’d like to talk about the future of Inkdrop.

What’s Updated So Far

I’ve actively developed the app since its official release. It became mature but is kept simple & stable. Here is the summary of the recent updates:

  • Keymap customization for editor (v2.6.0)
  • Great performance improvement (v2.5.0)
  • Auto-backup (v2.4.0)
  • Task management (v2.3.0)
  • Trash (v2.2.0)
  • Math and Chart support (Plugins)
  • Batch tagging (v2.0.0)
  • Moving notes with drag&drop (v2.0.0)
  • …and many bug fixes!

What’s Coming Next

I will keep developing it actively. So, what’s coming next?

The mission of Inkdrop is to help digital creators by maximizing the possibility of Markdown. The digital creators are those who like me :)
This is a key to keep it simple and to determine what features should be added. I promise Inkdrop won’t become like Evernote the feature-fat app because I never add features I needn’t.

These are the features Inkdrop will NOT support:

  • Teamwork
  • Enterprise version
  • Syncing with Dropbox, Google Drive, iCloud, etc.
  • WYSIWYG editor for non-programmers

Now I’d like to talk about new features coming soon.

1. Mobile Version

.. for iOS at least. I’m already working on it. It’s built on top of the cordova which is a framework based on the web technology. Because of its architecture, Android can be also supported if I didn’t encountered any critical problems. The iOS version is primary at the moment (since I’m an iPhone user.)

2. Sharing Note on the Web

You can share your note with people on the web easily.

3. Import from Evernote (by Plugin)

You can import your notes from Evernote. It supports simple conversion from HTML to Markdown.

Let’s Make It Together

It would not be possible to get Inkdrop better without your help and support. I’m happy to know what you think about now and future of Inkdrop. Feel free to post your thought here: https://github.com/inkdropapp/forum/issues

If you would struggle to justify paying for Inkdrop, please read this blogpost: Why Inkdrop is a Subscription App
